| ONLINE SECURITY CONCERNS : Paying by credit card
and Dealing with pop ups General online security We
suggest that all internet users should protect their systems by using quality
virus protection software that also includes internet security features. TrendMicro
and Symantec (Norton's) ranges are our favourites, but there are many other products
on the market. Please seek informed advice. Paying by credit
card If you're feeling cautious about ordering online, you're
not alone. But caution hasn't stopped Australians taking to online shopping: At LoveLife Plus, we use the highest level industry-approved
encryption software called Secure Sockets Layer. This means that you input your
data on a "secure" page, then it gets scrambled as it travels from your
computer to ours, and upon arrival we decipher it. Your information is only at
risk on its journey between our two computers, and breaking the encrypted code
is virtually impossible. Once we have your details, our professional
staff enter them into a payment system, just as you or a retailer would if you
were making a purchase face-to-face in a shop. Despite public
fear to the contrary, your credit card is no more at risk online than in day-to-day
use. And if something does go wrong, you do have redress through your credit card
company. The world of online shopping offers many advantages
over regular retail -- convenience, privacy, abundant information -- and we encourage
you to give it a whirl!
Please talk to us if you have any doubts about
the security of ordering online. Email us at info@lovelifeplus.com.au
or phone (07) 3396 5557. Thank you!
Dealing with pop
ups and spyware Clients sometimes report that they receive
annoying pop ups when they visit a site like ours that provides adult information
and products. There are two basic steps you can take to reduce
this annoyance. Firstly, consider using a pop up blocker.
We have had success with a free program called Pop
This!, but there are a number of other free and cheap products available for
download from CNET and TUCOWS.
These vary in their effectiveness and features, and your choice may depend on
your operating system and other factors. If in doubt, please seek informed advice.
Secondly, consider installing a scanning program that identifies
and removes spyware of all types, including pop up launchers. We like AdAware
but there are other free and low cost products available, again from CNET and
TUCOWS. These programs can be used to scan your computer regularly. Frequent internet
users may well be surprised to see how many files have "invaded" their
systems, and will rid themselves of many nuisances in addition to popups. If in
doubt about the best action for your computer and circumstances, please seek informed
advice. These are only suggestions and will not necessarily
be an appropriate solution for all computer users. We cannot accept responsibility
for any problems that arise from following any of our suggestions; we can only
report that these steps have worked for us and for other users we know. Good
luck!
